Kooba Radio
Kooba Radio is a London based podcast and Internet radio station specialising in cutting edge independent music and comedy laden banter from our close knit team of DJs. Started in 2002, we have built up a loyal global listenership who tune in regularly and interact with the presenters via our website and facebook page.
Kooba was developed as a platform for music that you wouldn’t hear elsewhere. We focus on unsigned artists and independent record labels which would would typically fall below the radar of most commercial enterprises.
The music reflects our own eclectic personal tastes which include alt rock, electro, post rock, punk, post punk, classic rock, metal, folk, pronk, hip hop, rock and roll, comedy, blues, experimental and a myriad of other styles.
Kooba radio is a free podcast. We run it for fun and make no profit. If you like you can donate some money to help us pay for running costs.
The Shows
The Jonny and Alex Show

Alex and Jonny
Jonny Yeah and Alex Malloy pilot Kooba’s flag ship show through the murky depths of independent music.
The trademark of the show has always been former stand up comedian Jonny’s quick witted one liners. The show often includes listener “homework” (i.e. amusing phone in / mail in questions), interviews with bands, sketches and quiz show parodies.

The Painted Lady
Favourite genres include alt rock, electro, “obvious punk”, shouty girl stuff, experimental, anything funny, and latterly with the addition of new presenter The Painted Lady, metal and heavy rock.
The show goes out roughly once a month.

The … & Myles Show

Myles
Myles Bartoli, AKA “On Air Myles” is joined in the hot seat by an ever changing selection of guest Djs. He refers to his radio style as “gentle mono banter”. The show takes a decidedly calmer and more sober direction than Jonny’s, with recent dabblings in documentary style historical broadcasts.
A true music guru, young Myles plays indie, folk, acoustic, indie-dance, alt-dance, alt-country, alt-rock and experimental tunes.
Myles’ warm and funny tones can be heard sporadically on Kooba throughout the year. Get the shows here >>
