History: Sooooo Wonk Unit, their debut album was Flying the Japanese Flag, it had front man Alex Johnson naked on the cover, his cock covered in menstrual blood. Nice!
Alex has been in the punk scene since the early 90′s, his band The Flying Medallions were kinda legends. Untill an unfortuate accident robbed them of their bass player Dougie Palompo and critically injured band MC Mr Stevens.
Their latest offering Trolleys Thankyou / Wonk Unit Saved My Life is without doubt one of my favourite punk albums of the last 10 years. And if you thought album covers don’t get much better than naked punks with period on their ‘junk’, please see album cover for Trollys on the left.
Alex is also a published poet and the author of notorious sex manual How to make girls cum and the blog Cement you Cunt which is an amalgamation of all that makes Alex tick.
One day I would like to live in Alex’s head. I’d like to know what really goes on in that beautiful kranium of his before he edits it for an audiance, or if he edits it at all. Only for a short holiday though.
He is a regular on the spoken word circuit, and we’re hoping one day soon to get him into the Kooba studio to record something just for us so keep your eyes peeled for that.
