Hello listeners. Hope you’re enjoying 2011 so far. To carry on easing you into January and tide you over ’til the next The… and Myles Show, here are a few tunes that have been submitted to Kooba in the new year. I like the sound of them so I thought you might like the sound of them as well:
Ian Bel: Workaholic

Yep, only a few weeks in and we’re sick of the sight of spreadsheets and printer screens already I’m sure. Ian Bel has this little ditty to sympathise with you. You can download the track for free from his site.
Suzie Smart: Mr and Mrs

When Suzie Smart isn’t doing her solo stuff, she can usually be found in the delightful and self proclaimed “Panda-Punk” band The Benwahs. She sent Kooba a link to some of her solo stuff and the track “Mr and Mrs” really stuck out as a tune that I thought you Kooba listeners would like to hear.
Storm and the Dales: Heart and Soul
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Us lot at Kooba like sultry, swinging and retro sounds. And a lot of bands send in music thinking they do just that. Well they don’t. Fortunately Storm and the Dales are an exception to that. They really do tick our boxes of sultryness, swingingness, and retroness.
Rodney Branigan:
The Kooba email system recieved some promo reminiding us of a Texas chap called Rodney Branigan that we saw play in Lewisham a few years ago. The stuff he does with two guitars has to be seen to be believed.
The Avisi: Alternative Love Song
Now, if you’re Jonny Yeah, with January just under way and Halloween still 10 months away, you’d probably still say “It’s never too early for Vampires!”. So why not take his advice and have a healthy dose of vampire action in the video for The Avisi’s “Alternative Love Song”.
Hey Sholay: Burning
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
With the submissions emailed to Kooba, it’s always nice not have to jump through numerous links, multiple registration and the downloading of obscure media converters just to be able to hear a submission. Hey Sholay are one of those acts that pleased me enourmously by doing the decent thing and simply attaching an MP3 to their email. This is the track they attached. It’s really good.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed all that. See you later listeners.
