David Goo takes a break from The Variety Band to let us hear his “Other Stuff”.
David Goo is a well known figure around our parts. His unique style and sense of humour has earned him a legendary status in the open mic communities of London. He is also a long time contributor to Kooba Radio. We first interviewed him on the show at least 5 years ago and it was during this interview that we asked him if he had ever dabbled in “serious” music. His answer was a sheepish yes. Apparently his body of work started with songs that would sound much more serious when compared to crowd pleasers such as Psychotic Lady and The Limb Song. His new album “David Goo’s Other Stuff” sees this side of his personality come to light.
Ok, well it’s not THAT serious! But I think its a bit more “trad” than The Verity Band. I half expected earnest singer-song-writer stuff but thankfully David’s personality is stamped all the way through the album like a stick of Brighton rock. Backed by Elliot “Elliot Mason” Mason on bass, Oli Dacomb on drums and long time collaborator Miss Jo Williams providing additional vocals on “RIPT”; the alums rockets through a collection of Chili Peppers-esqu funk/jazz nuggets with surreal lyrics delivered in David’s charismatic transatlantic accent.
Here’s a song to give you a flavour of what I’m trying to describe…

Errr…. I’m struggling to find anything about David Goo’s Other Stuff online so I’m not sure where you can pick up the album, but here is a link to David Goo’s Verity Band website.
