This gig is in conjunction with our good friends at Pandapower.
As the summer approaches we thought we would try something a bit new. Something a bit NEW CROSS! You see what I did there? Ah yes, south east London's equivalent to Camden... With so many venues to choose from we decided to go straight for the top of the flipping cream and picked the beautiful New Cross Inn. The toilets there are actually Grade 2 Listed! Can you believe that!
And what of the bands? Read on my friends...
Chuck Farley
There’s a definite and easily accessible sense of humour to this lot and it has been winning them legions of fans over the last few years. Can you imagine the driving riffs of Queens of the Stone Age with a sort of Frank Zappa bent, all tied together with a ska-rock beat. If you can imagine that you’ll be somewhere close to approximating the sound of Chuck Farely. They are loud, rawkus and fun. The perfect headliner for this inaugural Kooba/Panda gig.

The Special Relationship
The Special Relationship have very big things ahead of
them. Already played on XFM and Radio 1, and favourites of
Huw Stephens, John Kennedy and Jon Hillcock, they’re also
now favourites of Kooba. With superb dynamics in their
tunes from sweet melodies to bloody punches of rock and
their lyrics carrying the same trend nuanced subtlety and
directness; Kooba could say they’re a magic blend of the
Pixies and Modest Mouse, but Kooba WILL say “But oh
they’re so much more”.

Si Jubb Carruthers
Si Jubb Carruthers might be known to some as the frontman of Jubb & the Dirty Sleeves. But now he's venturing out of the ashes of that band into the manic world of music on his own. With just his guitars and his own voice, he's bringing his songs from deepest darkest Dorset up to The New Cross Inn. He brings to mind a youthful Billy Bragg and Kooba's golden boy Hibbett. That's always a good thing in our books, so that's why he's going to start off the night for us.

Goodtimes Goodtimes
The aptly named Goodetimes Goodtimes will provide you with an uplifting acoustic experience to ease you happily into this barnstormer of a gig. This band’s sound has a serious vintage feel to it. Oozing with musical knowledge, the folk sound is reminiscent of Neil Young while the earnest and honest vocals are not unlike that fella out of the Kings of Leon. This is definitely not your standard acoustic fare – its something special.
